what approaches the bim

there is the special section "video" to upload movies.
However, one question: I looked at the first video (model data), but the part of report on the left is unclear.
what does it produce, the surfaces/volumes of the wall (for example)?
with or without blanks?
in the case of non-rectlinear walls, (in the form of broken) the internal and external surfaces have different dimensions: does the sw detect or do the measurements on the median axis?

Hello, gfrank.
Sorry if I posted these links in the forum, but I just wanted to propose a discussion about bim processes and software that most support this methodology of work.
However the chart you see, is a dynamic chart that computes in real time the quantities. I am sincere, I have never used it and frankly I do not know this function specifically.
However, I know enough allplan to provide you with some information about the computation of quantities.
with allplan you can decide if you have the exact quantities, then net of the holes, or calculate "full empty" and in this case you can decide the limit in m2 or m3 besides which you can compute.
in addition to this allplan produces reports that in practice provide you with the surface in m2 of the crates. This means that in the presence of circular walls you will have the precise internal and external surface and not for example calculated on the median axis of the element (which would therefore be wrong, if we talk about surfaces).
I hope I've been helpful.

. . .... So, gfrank, what do you think? You seem like a very objective and competent person and so your opinion is very interested.

very effective the presentation indicated by monte baldo, but these functions (it seems rather "intricate" in management) would be very useful were commented by those who use them on the field.
functions in a sw are exceptional when they are simple to manage: I would like to have an opinion "operative", because sometimes it is not "all gold what glitters" and who sells the sw sometimes makes to shine well what is not always so brilliant ......

If you accept a very modest opinion from me, I work on the field. I collaborate with many studies and some adopt the solutions you see in the film (in all the movies). certainly to make the most of a product you must necessarily invest time in training (and unfortunately even some money), but if you proceed in this way, then the results pay off the invested "fatigue".

documenting me on the bim topic I found this discussion.
I know allplan only by name. would it be possible to see something about the management of the structural part?
if I have to make even a small cottage it is possible to manage beams and pillars in c.a. or steel?
is it possible to draw water, electrical and air conditioning systems?

if you can see some pictures or videos I would be grateful.

reinforced concrete structures -> http://www.nemetschek-allplan.it/software/ingegneria/allplan-ingegneria.htmlGenerally speaking, however, if I can give you a suggestion, remember that the bim is a work process that allows you to extrapolate information from your model and, if necessary, share it with other users. a single software cannot be defined bim if it is unable to exchange such information with other vertical/specialistic products. here see an example of the collaboration between allplan & logical soft.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckl2ibcrgi8one of the most used formats for data exchange between bim applications is the ifc format certified by the "buildingsmart". allplan has the certificate in import/export ifc2x3 coordination view 2.0.

when you value a software, therefore, always checks as a minimum requirement that supports the ifc format (both in import and export). Thanks to this format, for example, allplan is able to exchange structures/arms with specific structural programs such as modest, tekla, etc. also has an extremely interesting tool called "cold control" which tests for example collisions between individual armor and/or structure with aeration system, etc.

in my opinion the best definition of bim, and it comes from wikipedia/acca sw:
building information modeling, or bim, is the process of creating and managing the information model of a building. the information can refer to the entire life cycle of the building construction, from the design phase to that of use and maintenance, passing through the phase of realization. the term bim also identifies the next generation architectural cads that do not limit themselves to the design of simple graphic elements (lines, polylines, circles, arches, etc.), but allow to design drawing the technical components of the building (walls, bearing structures, windows, doors, etc.).

drawing through graphic objects that also contain component data, such as geometry, constitution, spatial position, etc., also determines the information model of construction. the model thus generated can be useful for calculations, checks and analysis. the acronym is also used to indicate the building information model (or the model itself).

a bim may contain any information concerning the building or its parts. the information most commonly collected in a bim relates to geographical location, geometry, properties of materials and technical elements, phases of realization, maintenance operations. a bim can also easily and immediately compute the quantities characterizing a technical element (e.g. the surface of a plaster).

I imagine that a bim process “complete” allows the different professional figures working in the project to manage a single model, which contains the work of each in a separate way.

for example, we take the video posted with travilog. from allplan step model to travilog, for the calculation of the structure. I realize that you have to move columns and add more. is it possible to import the modification in the model allplan?

in Slavic travilog the model in ifc and the amount in allplan (as written before the program is certified both in import and export). importing the ifc file into allplan is automatically created a variant in the data structure and removed/add the columns.

In my opinion, the main mistake in dealing with this process is the conviction to solve everything by equipping itself with many software to cover all disciplines, even if in a study there are the skills to deal with all the issues (and in Italian reality this is very difficult). better to have a ductile software available as in my opinion it is allplan so as to become the ideal platform for the various disciplines. Moreover the interface ifc should be the main road to follow.

It is not a question of this debate, I think it is a bit of advertising, not even so much "velated" ;-)

Oh, my God. free of charge It is advertising, I take away all the veils:-).

I have not specifically mentioned other solutions (see ae or cds that are paid). I just wanted to emphasize that the technology of parametric objects is editable by the user. Moreover, this allows third parties to make add-ons for allplan.

among other things, if you had the chance to see webinar 5, also the nemetschek pm spoke about the importance of on opensource solution. I read about allplan coonect that the videos will soon be released, so you can listen to it again.

In summary a bim solution must be opened and therefore able to share information with other bim solutions and third parties. thinking of having a unique product for everything is utopian and leaves little decision space to the designer. use a closed bim does not lead to anything. Try to think about the madness that is standing up and you'll understand how my post has been relevant.
