long ago, before the forum jumped I remember seeing a discussion with this title.
I know it was made a version 9, but think3 tried not to spread it too much. by corridor voices, I know that if someone interested in gbg contacted them these first they tried in every way to convince him to take thinkdesign, then, if they just couldn't, a casting put with their backs on the wall ("Listen to me: I don't care, or you give me gbg or otherwise it's useless that we're going forward to discuss") then maybe they hunted some gbg licenses.
but these are news that date back to 3÷4 years ago.
Does anyone know anything more recently?
Thank you in advance.

I still have version 7 and with xp is unstable. I can tell you that for now all the work in 2d we do it in me

to me it works pretty well instead with xp he, gbg version 7.0.
I have problems mainly exporting to dwg but for the rest I can work.

When I was still in assistance I received version 9.0, then I resigned contracts and I don't know how they evolved. sure at the time, gbg was as light and quick as thinkdraft was a slow dinosaur that could flatten any workstation. Then the compatibility between .d and .e2 is not that it was so direct as you could have expected.

for my experience Vers. 7 with win xp works perfectly. but what I would like to know is, said right in earthly terms: if tomorrow I phone to think3 and tell them that I want to buy one or more gbg licenses that answer me? making the assumption that I care about gbg and not thinkdesign, of course.

I confirm. if xp is configured correctly, gbg 7 on xp can be very stable. Other programs, however, may suffer from the configuration needed to gbg.

I don't know what they'd say to you if you did, but if you're interested, I have a 9.1 license on usb stick to sell. I tested it on both 64bit and Windows 7 64 bits without detecting stability issues and can be configured to save in version 5.0 (read compatible with gbg 6 and 7). Incidentally, this means that, if you want, think3 can give you as many as you want.

but it was not forbidden to buy and sell licenses "second hand"? I remember reading it right on this forum (and it's something I frankly find absolutely not right).
How is version 9.1 (I stayed at 7)?

depends on the software, some companies allow it, some others are behind them written, some others are not, certainly not a matter governed by law, it only counts what the software house wants to do.

new versions of gbg compared to 7 have for sure:
1) a new algorithm for sampling calculation, which works even if there are overlapping lines
2) true type font support
3) update of dwg translators

These should be the basic things, maybe even increased the manageable memory, so one is no longer "full undo area".

Anyway, I got the email from think3 yesterday that they make a very good offer to switch from gbg to thinkdesign, maybe if you're not tied to gbg for reasons of data exchange with customers/suppliers it would be worth appreciating.

I don't think I talked about "second hand" licenses. I talked about licenses to "resell", which normally do "resellers". I'm sorry I tricked you.

how much he posted hunter on the news of 9 are true; He only forgot that the 9 no longer has the limit of the 128000 primitives, so he no longer has the problem of the full data area.

Sorry, you didn't understand. I didn't know you were also a t3 dealer. I remember you when you came to scaffold. . .
I will certainly take this into account if it happens.

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum session.
I wanted to ask for some information about gbg 9.1, because in the house I have a expired license, which I am considering to reactivate.
I have designed for years with gbg version 6 and 7 developing many procedures that allowed me to work at washed rhythms.
the temptation to pass to another cad 2d is strong, but to today leave the old road for the new one I think twice.
By reading to you it seems to me to understand that gbg 9.1 turns on windows 64-bit view, did any of you test it on windows seven?
My intention is to take a 64-bit machine and I wanted to make sure that gbg 9.1 could turn, so I forget that version 7 can turn.
Can you tell me if version 7 procedures are compatible with version 9.1?
At the time I managed to import version 6 menus on version 7 creating a hybrid interface, and believe me it was a bomb, because the response times between "menu vs toolbars" were quite different.
on version 9.1 someone ever tried to import version 6 menus.
I thank you in advance for any answers.

Yes, windows 7 home premium, professional, Italian and English. but only with usb keystrokes, never tried the parallel keys. on new hardware it is difficult to find the parallel door.

Yes, I am. You may have problems with dialogues, but just regenerate them with 9 and everything goes well.

no, even because if I don't remember badly - I could wrong i- from 8 on then the menu functions of 6 (mexxx) are no longer supported.

You're right to say the 6 menus were more responsive than 7. is one of the problems that those who develop the software and follows "thoughtlessly" the path indicated by microsoft do not recognize, while those who use the software recognizes and has its own despite learning to live with us. the lack of responsiveness of the windows interface, however, is a laughing problem, compared to the interface of the new versions of the office style cad 2007/2010!

thanks for the clarifications, I take note of it, and for your timeliness.
Have a good day.

good morning to all, in the office we have 2 licenses gbg 8.2a (from several years) on xp prof., memory to the passage from win98 to xp we had lost the function (classic zoom in-out) of the central mouse wheel; Now I would like to bring 1 of qs license (parallel key) on a new pc with win7-64bit, would you know if it could work or I would find myself with an unusable license?
thanking everyone a good Easter.

Hello angel
Good morning, angel0073, and good Easter greetings.
on windows 7 you will have great difficulties to show the parallel key to gbg (as long as you can find a computer with the parallel port :frown:).

you have two options:
  1. contact www.think3.eu and change the key from parallel to usb
  2. keep your old computer and dedicate it to the use of gbg
you will also need to use the command 'c:\programs\think3\dm82\bin\dm.exe -dru "c:\gbg" after creation of the folder c:\gbg, to use the program on windows 7.
