working with autocad surfaces should you?
exist projects, particulars or assemblies, created exclusively in surfaces with autocad?

Of course they do.
on the fact that you agree depends...
depends on the work you have and the result you want to get.
working only with surfaces do not have all the properties of solids, baricentre, mass etc. etc.
if then you have to calculate the volumetrics for e.g. (and it's only 1 of the many) as you do......
if instead you only care about the outside view of the piece I would say that yes suits, the file should be + light and handy.
