the municipality of mantova has launched a contest entitled 'from the station to the lake - requalification of squares and public places of the city'.
The aim of the competition is to encourage the introduction to the professional world of young professionals through the promotion and enhancement of the design and creative capacity of young people in order to bring out and support the most qualified youth expressions, offering an opportunity to advance and contribute to the dynamism and participation of existing reality with innovative ideas.
the requalification must take place having particular regard to some squares and public paths, with interventions of architectural value and with the localization of those services indispensable to improve the pedestrian and vehicular path.
it is necessary to identify and value the areas to be used to be equipped green.
In particular, projects will have to be structured in order to redevelop a complex urban area that has progressively lost the ability to be perceived as a place of aggregation over the last decades.
to this end you will have to pay attention to the relationship that binds public space to the fabric built through the highlighting and qualification of privileged visuals on architectural elements
and the most important villages in the city.
for the areas of study you will have to take into account the presence in the area of the university and the hypothesis to allocate the historical building of Filipino squares to function of light or temporary residential structure, or to other function able to regenerate also socially the urban fabric.
participation in the competition is reserved for architects and engineers enrolled in their professional and ageing albis under 40 years.
the plic containing the elaborates will have to arrive by the next 22 February 2010.
the contest will end with the award of five prizes awarded in the following way:
- attribution to the winner for the best project 6 thousand euros;
- attribution to the second classified 4 thousand euros;
- to the third, fourth and fifth ranked 2 thousand euros each.
