Hard to imagine a softer microsoft-dependent. ...but alibre turns under linux? No?
uses direct-x instead of open-gl and if I'm not mistaken, he needed the virtual java machine of ms, the sun didn't work. I don't know if things have changed now. .
p.s.
the view cad for linux is quite daunting, the only one I know is graphite-one that uses parasolids like kernel and d-cube as a profile solutor (the same as solid edge) but I never managed to make it go (not that I lost a lot of time to tell the truth...).

so much to add desolation to the discouragement...alias was born on unix, now exists for windows... have you ever seen it pass for the alternative brother of unix?the view cad for linux is quite daunting

confirm, alibre is exclusively for windows, and much better if windows 7 rather than windows view or xp just for directx.
apart of course yesterday's April fish on the site www.alibre.com with the announcement of alibre for iPhone! - the beautiful is that having offered us three years ago the tomtom navigator in homage with alibre expert, as in http://www.lista.it/alibre/tomtom.html, preloading as movies the alibre courses, they called me two clients who wanted to see alibre on the iphone!
returning to bomb, the only chance to leave the windows environment is with the new dynamic photorealistic rendering keyshot, which is also available for Mac as well as windows to 32bit or 64bit, as it is solved at cpu level and not of graphics card. alibre remains so free in windows environment while rendering can continue in a different dedicated machine, also mac.
would be nice at this point to see if you manage to spin keyshot rendering in real time under linux while manipulating the view with the mouse...
