I had been advised hypermesh but do not know if the licenses are available at the laboratories, another interesting package I noticed was the one introduced with ansys 12.1 specific for composites, then I read of nastra and patran.

which can therefore be the most suitable one? I already have a bit of analysis experience with ansys workbench and classic ansys others should study them from scratch, and especially know if licenses are available in some faculty computing center.

Are there carbon tubes to be purchased by meter?
I switch off better, I need external diam tubes from 200 mm to 450 mm thick 5-10 mm. must be quite precise, we say as an extruded aluminium tube, and have at least the outer surface "carbon look".
it is not necessary that they have the mechanical characteristics of the real carbon.
