define public command

Guest
Good morning
Unfortunately I find it difficult to understand the exact functioning of the public command. I searched in the forum but there is no explicit "guide".
I hope to define once and for all this precious command, that who like me must print more than 400 dwg files.
I list my operations, with autocad 2011 64 bit:
I create a new file called "prova400"

button dx options and imposed as printer my....printing
I verify that there is the "public" check

click on lay out
management page
new, I call it "prova400"
on the printer I choose my printer (the same that is selected in "options")
dim sheet a4
area to print extensions, center print, scale 1:1, monochrome print styles
Shut up!

save (prova400.dwg) and close the file

open the first of the famous 400 (premit are all "model" so no lay out)
public command
add two files (to try)
on public on: Lascio plotter defined in print settings
...... now the trouble begins.... .
on the page set icon there is the exclamation point, select import that famous test file400.dwg
result......do not print anything

Sorry if I was "long" but I think if we do a step-by-step guide, or better yet an example, this command (as I think so many others) will be very easy.
Thank you very much for your trust.

...asto dx options and imposed as printer my....printing
I'm sure there's a "public" check. .
that is for printing operations in the background, it can also be unchecked.

These problems are usually present when the printer that had been set in the file is no longer present in the pc, or has been changed by name (problems that usually arise after formatting when the printer had not given the same name) or with files that are passed.
try to set a pdf or dwf printer in the layouts (or model) to see what happens?

Thank you for your intervention.
The printer is connected. I also tried in pd as you reported.
I've been popping up public in options.
I attach screen.

being at home today, I have no autocad installed, however I try to help you the same.. .
creates a new design.
track an entity (a line, for example)
launches the print command and sets the printers as you need (print extensions, print style, printer type etc.
do not print, but save the configuration (you should have a special button at the top)
exit the print command, delete the line you tracked before and save the file somewhere
open a random design... ;-)
launches public command and uploads files to publish
Be careful, that when selections you can charge template and layout, only layout or model only. put the option you need (in your case, only model)
when they are "loaded", select them all from the list
go to the first file and in the column "set page", from the drop-down menu, select "import"
upload the dwg you saved first (the one with the row then deleted. ...
you should see the configuration you saved
select it and should be assigned to all files on the list
try to see the print preview of a file
If it works... Good job!

kind to(maioscolo)mic
Thank you.
It works.
Unfortunately in the forums you often get lost in the meanders of the councils, tutorials, here and there.
but I think if you put a little good will in the slowing pace of operations, every difficulty (in the limit of possible) is overcome.
Thanks again
