Frankly, I never did, and I don't think we can. I would go through neutral formats or see if there are translators.

good morning to all: to open the 3ds files you need the premium as in the additions you have to activate the scanto3d plug, this will allow you to open the 3ds files (file open etc etc).

3ds stands for 3d study.
solidworks does not support in the 2011 version and previous imports of native files catià, apart from cgr.
