is not consistent what you claim: "modeling" in place means drawing the object directly into the project: How can you upload it? ?

if you have used a family, you must assign the parameters of distance (length, height, etc.) and material to the object (trave). Once loaded into the project, you can change the size directly from the properties of the type (object), selecting it in the project.

Unless you have assigned parameters, for changes, you must return to "edit" mode (both in the family without parameters or in place modeling) and change the object. if it is a family (without parameters), you must recharge it in the project after having changed it

you must associate parameters with your family to change base and height! revit mica reads you in the thought...if you can't create a parametric family (as I imagine it's seen your answers) then this is another pair of sleeves. I suggest you read this manual:
