pass files from 2011 to 2010 version

Hi, guys. I found a problem I couldn't solve. in practice my friend that the 2011 version should pass me files (I have that 2010). I'm gonna open them up and tell me I can't do it, I can't open them like it's an unknown format. Tell me what happened and if there's a solution. Thank you.

It's normal. You and your friend have to use the same version, otherwise the passage can only happen from the oldest to the newest.

To do the reverse, you have to convert to neutral formats, such as parasolid, but accepting the limitations that this entails.

Do you have the student version? I think that doesn't export to neutral formats, otherwise I have to "save by name" and see if you find the parasolid format (*.x_t) among those available.

If you can't do that, I think the only one is that you're getting swx 2011.
