It is true that the portable hp suffer from a chronic overheating problem or resent it as all others?I should buy a laptop and I was oriented towards a hp that from a purely technical point of view is quite good (processor i7,8 gb ram, frequency of 2,4 etc...) but to read on the internet I have rather mistrusted to the hp.
from your experiences about it (see that I imagine you will have performance laptops) you tell me nothing?
Thank you.

ps: I posted here because I don't think there is a special section, is it correct or am I wrong?

problems began with the hp series dv 6000 with mother nvidia card, but I know also the acers and other brands have suffered from it.
the latest news that turn on the web speak of welds made with new alloys (without lead) that tend to lose solidity beyond the 50-60 °c, with the welds "pastose" slowly the components "spin" and, above all the gpu suffer.
also the processor heaters with the "famigerate" silicone formines did not give evidence of exciting performance (with time and temperature the "forms" harden and lose contact with the processors).
at the end of the fair there is a wax "mory" of laptops, linked in particular to those who make use of it intensively (veder film) and uses it in a "disgraced" way (to many hours lit to download emules rested on the bed with blankets that "appear" the grills).
The feeling is that the new motherboards have a certain fragility, I think, but the last models have implemented the right countermeasures given the disasters of the past.
hp in particular took some "tranvate" passes with image returns from planetary shame, the problem was of nvidia, but after the divorce (hp had gone to intel abandoning nvidia at the time when amd acquired ati) no one took their responsibilities abandoning the product (ex compaq) to the smundo.
the professional hp series (the "black" and serious) are all another thing and do not have of these problems, as it turns out, they did not have the of and the lenovo.

I took a notebook hp 2 months ago (elitebook 8560w).
heat much less than the previous series.
I think they did a great job in this sense and the solid state hd produces much less heat, so much so that the fan remains off for much of the time.

I recently gave my hp mobile workstation of 3 years after the new failure. for me it was a disaster, even at the level of overheating where the picture burned 2 times and the motherboard 1. and seen the crisis and the poor budget I wanted to fly low with an average asus notebook with i7... a deal! it turned out stable and even more powerful than the fixed ws xeon 5xxx of not even a year that I promptly bloomed remaining working only with this notebook... saving also for the times I lost by transferring data from one pc to another when I have to go to the customer.

even in the rendering phase it holds very well, but for absurdity I did not have the opportunity to stress it sufficiently because renderings that to the fixed ws required 6 hours this notebook makes me in 3, accomplice surely also that the best compatibility of the software with the technology cuda of the most recent nvidia.

Unfortunately, mine was one of those "black" and serious. I was able to see that at the frame level there was no difference between the consumer series and the professional series. and on the contrary... below it was marked compaq as well.

There will be a reason why the HP stopped doing laptops.
They destroyed a world leader company, carrion.

hi ing italy, I have a hp pavilion zd8270ea, screen widescreen 17" card ati
3 gb ram processor intel repentum 4 ht hardisk 160 gb and n.3 cooling fans.
I bought this missile in 2006 at Euro 2200,00.
after about 6 months I had a problem at the monitor I called the hp assistance, after
various tests done with the technician by phone told me to pack the laptop that in the morning
It would have gone by ubs to withdraw everything.
after 10 working days (the laptop was brought into germany, where they have the center
computer assistance of a certain value.) I retacted the hp assistance center
I was told they had a problem with the spare part and they sent me
an email with attachment a small list of laptops equal to or greater than mine, I was told to send a fax with the model I chose and that in the morning of the day after
I would have received the chosen laptop via ups.
so it was after 10 days I arrived from the germany the repaired laptop, I reconnected
hp assistance explaining that the laptop had replaced me and I was answered
to keep it as the withdrawal and disposal was very expensive.
Thank you hp for your prodotes and excellent assistance.

Hello gianluigi
Yes, it was 2006, prehistory.
Now they sent everything to "ramengo."

hi er president, this laptop is really a good car, short buy
xp professional so that I can increase the ram.
until a few years ago I was and am, a designer of thermoplastic molds even though now
work in milan a.t.m. (manages public transport service. )
Since 1978 I also use the scientific calculators of hp cost but have no equal.
hello and good 2012.
I leave you because at 18.30 I enter service until 01.15.

Hello gianluigi

Asus, I think they're the only ones left to do their job.
Mah... I with my wife's netbook asus became half crazy. I also wrote it in a discussion but I don't remember the title.
at the end of the fair, however, after sending it unnecessarily three times in assistance, I gave it to a technician who works in our workshop.
He replaced me with the buffer battery and since then the net has not stopped. Of course I have violated the guarantee rules but at this point, for having three months out of six in assistance, I'm out of the guarantee.
so on the assistance of the asus I have some reservations.

I'm sorry.
Careful with the bios, on a laptop I had in the past it was possible to mount also 4 giga of ram on two slots, but then the bios did not see more than two, anyway, it seemed like 2005.

Hello gianluigi
atm milano?!? Then you're a goddamn "cugino"! !

my experience says that professional laptops cost more and are worth more. I had 3 of the (m6300, m6400 and m4500) and a couple of portable consumer (asus and acer). Professionals are certified and tested and you're sure to install the software and start working, with cosumers there's no bit, you have to test and try if running.
with an acer I had a lot of vga problems and I couldn't solve them to the point that I threw it in a corner and use it for stupidity (I replaced it with the m4500).
the fact of taking non-certified components by spending half tease and sometimes pay, for example on a fixed office I have a radeon hd 4350 (paid 40 euros 2 years ago) that if quarry at the same time a picture fx 1700 that cost 500 euros approximately.
the proper judge for assembling up to 3000 components and is a real deal. on laptops I have had a different experience and the problem of nvidia of now is optimus that forces the vga to interact with the integrated vga intel and makes the selection of drivers very difficult.
I have recently tried to update those of my acer and for a while I do not touch formatting it to make it work.
returning to us, if the budget does not allow you to purchase a mobile workstation, take a consumer, but I would tell you to stay on asus or sony with vga ati, this should avoid you problems as it seems to me that they are the best consumer as care/assembly/progettation and at the same time to a normal vga, it is not schifezza with continuous change of vga for energy saving.
Watch the resolution, that 1366x768 sucks for the cad, go on a 1600x900 or on a full hd.
