reconstruct a model

hello to all cad3d friends.
I would like to ask you a problem that I have recently found on some files and that time ago had been the subject of another post of mine.
I happen that, without an obvious reason (at least I am not aware of it) that some files become particularly "heavy" and use several seconds to rotate the model from a top view to a front (it is only an example). analog or even bigger files do not have the same problem. I think it's linked to a poorly constructed geometry, maybe an imported block or something. the question is: do there exist tools that can make a "model block" or identify possible errors? obviously excluding the classic "audit" and "recover".
See you soon.

a first test you could do by copying the whole model to a new file

then there is the "check" command, but you have to pass them one by one

thank you lattu.
the technique of creating a new design I have already tried (in vain).
What do you mean?

changes > body > verification

is a command that allows to verify each solid and validate the geometry, at each selection should give you: the object is a solid shapemanager validyou could create a lisp that validates a whole 3d model.

Can you post a file that gives you problems?

besides this could also use the wblock command and extract what you want.
or export the file to acis and re-import it on a new and clean design and see what happens.
Maybe it blows all booooom

just to update you.
making a wblock was one of the first things done.
export acis also, but ignores 2o 3000 entities (blocks etc.). In reality the reimported model acis is much more manageable and does not seem to give to appearance the problems that I re-discount (i.e. an extreme slowness, I speak of 40-80 seconds to change from any view to top view, I mean change not to rotate dynamically).
is not a problem with graphics card. tested on different boards and different power (all, picture, geforce etc.).
The error is definitely due to an imported block that, for reasons unknown to me, creates this problem.

other ideas? tools? I searched on the autodesk site but found nothing similar. .

Sorry, it's not about wanting to be a pig, but I guess you gave us purge on purge, right?
try again at:
1) have all the layers on
2) you put on any view and zoom and
3) erase (to send) r (to send) and remove from the selection everything you want to hold with a window (normal not crossing)
4) unltimo sending and canceling what remained there (if there was anything left) and then purging
Hi.

...I think it is linked to a poorly constructed geometry, maybe an imported block or something. . .
If the number1 procedure is not resolute, to understand which object gives problems you have to proceed for attempts, "open partially" could be a good start to locate the membership layer, then you could delete part of the design (50 percent each time) until you discover the guilty.

nothing to do, the procedure indicated by number1 is known to autocad users.
erase the model "to pieces" as it suggests gp until it reaches the identification of the problem can be very long on a file of 32 or 70 mb.
I hoped there was a more targeted tool. It seems unlikely that such a problem happened only to me.:frown:

Thanks to everyone anyway.

Yes, I know that it is known to all experienced users:) but try not harm no?
also you had not specified if you had already tried with such procedure, and therefore ....

I can still indicate another road (always if you haven't tried this too).

export the autocad file to another format, not necessarily acis, do the tests with all types of formats at your disposal in export.
and see from time to time what happens...... at the bad parade you could try to open it directly with another sw, such as microstation, and re-import it in autocad.
Hi.

you can save every single layer in different dwg files using layiso and wblock commands and then check if some files have high dimensions.

or delete all the blocks and purges and saves, to check if they really are those that give you problems

also the advice to separate the layers is great

Okay, find out the ark.
It was a block, imported via acis and not recognized as valid by the shape manager.
the problem was to find it between 2600 and more blocks in these files.
thanks to all for the advice.
