Hi.
The question is very trivial, but I got stuck and I can't go on.
I made modeling in revit 2012 and exported to 3dstudio.
use x rendering the standard and not mental ray( habit to use an old version of 3dstudio max) .
The scene is illuminated even if I have no lights, I don't understand what makes it illuminated. What should I set?
Can you help me?
Thank you.

fbx format also exports lighting (daylight). if you have max design is activated by default mental ray then lighting is given by daylight

If you need to use scanline so much it's worth revit...
However, if there are no lights the scene is illuminated with a default light (horrible but better than complete darkness)

Hi.
thanks x the answers.
x asalalp: I changed settings by putting "logaritmic" and "default scanline maker"
x tristan
I do not use mental ray x speed: I already set all the materials (which I used with previous versions of 3dstudio) and x that I would only use the lights I put, without default lights.
If with mental ray I can leave without scene lights, I will dare to convert to mental ray
(Do you have x manual suggestions or tutorials? )
Thank you.

But if I'm not mistaken, it's not activated automatically in mental ray. if you use scanline it is only havingtita to not have mr as a renderer. you can do another thing, in the "current preset" do not choose revit but "media & entertainment" and in this way you have the opportunity to choose which lights to import. If you like the dark pesto, remove the tick from "lights".
p.s. if you carry from revit in fbx my advice is to use mr in 3ds!

quoto! unless you have to do a temporary job.. .even if you would lose time (for several reasons) if the final work decided to do so in mr).
If you don't like the default light, just enter any light for e.g. omni, and you will notice that the light in the scene will be just that. with default scanlines the scene is illuminated if there are no other lights.

Thank you!
but the problem is just that: I also thought to insert a light and the default one would turn off, instead no!!! and I don't understand how to turn it off, I don't even find it.
Now I converted to mental ray (request: recommend some manuals?), but I must quickly finish a job, x which I would stand on the old setting.
Thank you.

If you have the right options set correctly it may depend on some general settings, but it is a little long to explain. for the moment you can do so for the rendering phase (and therefore not in the viewport that precisely changes according to some specific settings). select from the top left viewport settings, the display style settings: dx->lighting & shadow->illuminate with scene lights! that is probably now on default.
n.b based on what you reported I think you can see the changes only in phase of rendering.for the viewport is another story but before changing too many things see if you find yourself in this way... miss the fast synthesis
