to me it works with ctrl or arrow up, if they select before expressing the command, or simply selecting the pieces, without other keys, if the command declares it before selection.
I'm using 2012.

So if I have to add a part that I already have in the set, I'm more comfortable to copy it instead of going to look for it who knows where...
