revit - assigning materials after export by inventor

Please help me with this problem.

after importing a native inventor file in revit the materials take all a dark gray color and I can't change its properties.
despite check new materials and colors to the components these do not vary.

Where am I wrong?

revit does not seem to me that it manages to import parts and assemblies of inventor (ipt and iam). what type of file did you insert?

Thanks for the answer.

the original file is in .stp format that, having not installed on my pc, open with inventor fusion 2012.
from here I try to lighten it by eliminating the parts I don't care, so save it in .dwg format, then open it with revit 2012.
What do you think?
There is a more correct way to open it or I am resigned to redesign all the equipment :frown:

Unfortunately I cannot disclose drawings for copyright issues...... .
I try to make a brief summary of the passage of files:
equipment is created with proes
not having such a program are converted into steps I open with inventor to be able to use them with revit!

I hope I have summarized in an understandable way.
Do you have any advice to improve this step from proes to revit?

I'll explain, I imported a 7,000kb model from inventor fusion. I redesigned the same model from scratch using rvt2012 and the dimensions have drastically descended to 2.000kb. models are identical, where does the difference arise?
