hi to everyone, from a few months they have installed me if st5 and often and willingly (but not always!) when I have to replace inside a very special one with another tells me
"The file to be replaced resides in the current axieme folder and cannot be replaced with a file from the same name in another folder."
the strange thing is that if I open my assembly on another pc with st5 and try to do the same procedure... it doesn't give me any kind of error! replace the part properly as if nothing were! !
and the two pcs have the same configuration. . .

boys are in your hands help!

check if they have the same maintenance pack installed.
I remember a similar problem on the 1st or 2nd mp of the st5 then corrected with the next ones.

This thing is making me st4 out of this... except the file in another location I replace and it works... and menomal that is velocity siries... .

Isn't that you're working with local copies and uploading those and not network ones?

Therefore by making a replacement of a file with another that is on the net but with the same name as a local copy you get out of that error message.

check with the link manager from where the files were uploaded.

Hi.

Hello!
no I also tried with revison manager same problem cmq I solved as I said above.

from revision managers potentially do not see the problem because it directly points to network files.
from inside solid edge instead potentially can you upload files from the local machine or folder where the axieme resides depending on the priority set on the linkmgmt.txt file.

Hi.

hi guys, I have all the files saved on the net, and in this case, all saved in the same folder... I checked the linkmgmt.txt file and tells me this:

container
relative
absolute

begin search path

end search path

What does that mean? :frown:

means looking for the files to open in this sequence:

- folder where the aid resides
- folder with relative path (e.g. using a letter that maps a network disk)
- folder with absolute path (i.e. starting from the server name etc.)

If you try to replace a part with a selected file from the network, and at the same time there is a local copy with the same name, exactly the message you reported.

the fact that on one pc happens and on the other does not mean that the local copy only you have on that pc.

Hi.

so st5 makes me an automatic copy of the files on my pc? if it is as I can do to change this setting for me unknown?

No, it doesn't make you any copies and nothing has changed from previous versions.

solid edge is just warning you that this situation has happened.

It forgives my ignorance, but then what do I have to do to make this not happen?
and anyway it is, why does this joke only sometimes? files are always saved the same way and all on the server on the network...

do a search for duplicate files on your archives according to me you have doubles.
