archive .step files in inventor

I open this discussion to everyone because I have found a problem that I cannot solve in inventor.
I press that we use vault to store details on the server.
now I would need to archive a file that I created but not in the ipt format of inventor bensi in .stp format. I save a .step copy of the detail but when I reopen it to store it inventor automatically converts it to .ipt. Some of you have any idea how to solve this problem.

but one of the vault features is less, that is, having a "server" where files are available to other users. in my case the workshop has a different program from inventor who does not accept ipts. the solution would be to be able to store the steps without having to send it by email or copy it to another crtella risking to have unregistered cups around the servers.

simply drag the step file directly into the desired vault folder and it will be archived correctly, this applies with any file type, in fact vault allows storage of any file type, of course, for the recognized files will have the built-in viewer and can manage certain properties.

opening the step file in inventor is clearly converted according to the options chosen, but if you want to archive the source file, just, as said, drag it into the vault window, habit that I use habitually to keep archived on the server both the source step files (e.g. provided by external) and the conversions into ipt that then I use habitually in the design, discounted that the step file is archived as is, i.
