hello to all inventor users.
I have a question for you. I am trying to switch from rhino 3d to a parametric cad for design and calculation requirements fem on mechanical components. I'm finding several difficulties adapting to solidworks that I'm testing, the interface and its logic are quite different from rhino I use very well.
I find it difficult to use it a bit for the lack of a layer management style autocad and for its logic of operation in general. years of autocad used me to a standard, so I was trying to figure out if inventor reasons more in this direction. I'm downloading a demo version of inventor I'll try shortly.

forget the logic to layers of autocad or rhino. do different things differently.
inventor will have a logic similar to that of soloworks. working with the parametric in general will have for each one that type of logic, will change only the interface and the "system" to do a certain thing with one rather than with the other. It's just about getting used to it.

who has been used to autocads for years, is snouted in front of inventor.
forget the speech layer.
I also use rhino (a little ), are completely different environments.

i., ilario, you have crossed me in the curve :)

Unfortunately I use very well rhino so I am flattened on solidworks or paramedics in general. with rhino project anything in a short time, precise and fast. Although they say it's difficult I found myself right away and I use it often. Unfortunately I perceive its limits in being a non-parametric surface modeler, especially I suffer the lack of the finite element calculation module even if I know there are plugs in which rhino relies very much. I could use ansys but I prefer to have a single environment with everything necessary in the same interface. If so even with inventor I will make a reason, however I will test it before deciding what falls to devote my energies.

It always depends on what kind of work you have to do.
rhino can go well to shape surfaces, especially particular things.
But if you have to do with mechanics, it is not the right tool.
In my opinion, the advantages of parametric are indispensable, one must only learn a different method of work.

hello salax I understand you! you are in a situation similar to my a few years ago, I moved the first steps in drawing 3d with rhino, when it was to have to pass to a parametric I had not a few difficulties (I still have among other things:redface:).
even today with rhino model faster than inventor, but there are no alternatives if you need to use a parametric unfortunately you will have to change completely approach... .

It's tiring. We must turn our approach and change our minds. I'll be right there.
