I have seen on the net that the nose is testing a system where the flaps are integrated into the main body of the wing and not a self-assembled element on the wing.

beyond the deformation of the outer surface, I was struck by the fact that inside the flap zone do not seem to be present mobile devices, rivii or similar things. also on the manufacturer's website that "high reliability (no moving parts in the shape morphing mechanism)".

Has anyone already used such materials for other applications ? I mean they have a set of intermediate steps.
