hi guys, I wanted to ask you if any of you use sw with workbooks placed on google drive. I've been doing this recently with two jobs. This strange thing happened to me. work in both locations with the same version of sw and set perfectly in the same way. the only difference is that in one I have win7 and in the other win10. opening today the model in the one with win10 I saw that there were missing components and that sw therefore asked me to look for them. Then I saw that they were just deleted from the workbook. I didn't delete them obviously. Did you happen to yourself? in case you solved it?
Thank you.

but are the two pcs on the same local network?

the only thought of working among the "new" makes me shiver.... I don't want to say a chestnut... is it not that maybe the computer that saved the last files has been disconnected/spento before all the files have done in time to be uppati online? I hope I understand your problem, if not stop my comment.

no you understand the problem and I tell you it's something I control before you turn it off. when everything is updated I turn off. and then when you work regularly on the cloud, then with all the files already present, the update time is practically irresponsible. I noticed that maybe the problem arises only from the pc with win7 to the one with win10, so I am doing tests in reverse way x understand. Thank you.

I repeat the discussion x say that the problems I encountered with googledrive, both with sw and with autocad, were due to gogledrive! I don't know x what reason but drive didn't handle file saves well with real-time updates of the folder you are working on. I noticed in particular by drawing in autocad where I always encountered failure to save the file with creating temporary files within the workbook. I bought dropbox that is definitely higher. so if you are going to work on the cloud, go to the safe.. .

thanks to the tip, drake! personally it's been a while I've been considering working on the cloud, but I'd like to find a "mission critical" solution, not the usual mainstream. Did someone try something about it?

I don't understand you. What do you mean by mission critical?

I'm sorry about inlesism. with mission critical I mean that they are guaranteed for full-featured reliability. Unfortunately, it seems to me that the usual known do not assume particular responsibility in the case of data loss, and this would not make me feel comfortable.

hi, I confirm that dropbox is on another planet (in addition to using a much better sync algorithm)

I'm just intruding for matteo.
However, take it by habit, if you print pdf from dropbox, to download it before printing (if you use the site version because I don't know if my problem can be presented with the app)
I happen repeatedly that if I quickly erased a pdf and reloaded another one with the same name (update boards etcetc), in case of printing directly from 'dropbox.com' sometimes, for some reason unknown, printed the old version.
the problem is solved by closing the browser and coming back
all this, for the rest I always found myself well

I use dropbox completely downloading everything in the two pcs I work with. Actually the folders are already contained in both disks and dropboxes does nothing but synchronize them egregiously. in the case of conflict sends a signal and still holds both versions.
I'm clearly talking about the paid version that is now called plus. I don't know if it's the same.

Good morning, I would be interested in it, but I would like to understand if I have well understood the way of use.
you buy the version with the capacity that allows you to have all the necessary files on the cloud, each user downloads the dropbox application on the PC, at this point by entering the dropbox folder the work files, each has its own copy locally, works on this copy and the whole folder is updated for all users.
Thank you.

That's right for your files. You can also choose the folders you want to share with other people so that collaborators can access the work files that you are doing together. If there is the need to work on the same file at the same time I can't tell you, but I think with the higher and more expensive packages, of course, there is such a possibility. Finally I can tell you that between your devices that access dropbox you can choose the folders that need to be updated in each device, so that if you do not have enough space on local disks you avoid clogging them. However if you are interested you should try the free version with 2.5 giga of space, but also the business version (upper packages) x a month. other cloud I have not seen them, except drive I have experienced is not suitable x be used x work.

I thought about this opportunity, to avoid using the local network. currently the files of the "work" folder are in a pc, all users open these files by connecting locally to such pc, this sometimes involves opening times and closing rather high files. having the files (even all) each on your pc opening times would be greatly reduced.
working simultaneously on the same file is a possibility that already is avoided, for the well-known file management problems of the software without pdm.
I would also always have an updated backup, which I already do every evening on multiple laptops, and the possibility to access anywhere in the works.
I see no disadvantages if not the cost for the 100 gb to uplodare!

It is clear that the first uploads take away of time obviously, but there is no other way...

Good morning, I successfully experienced the file storage system with dropbox. synchronization is almost instantaneous and I detect an increase in working speed as each pc has stored all dropbox folders locally.
I will experiment with this other system : bitbucket, which seems equally promising, but free as it is available to space and up to 5 users.
As soon as I have news, I will share it.
