don't believe in fairy tales!!! I've been designing and nesting for water cutting for 17 years and I can guarantee that no software "does everything automatically". Sure, if we talk about a simple plate designed as a monobody part ok, it is simple, but when you begin to have multibody part files with platelets and plates also of 4-5 different thicknesses then you become laborious. I have my modus operandi that is mainly dictated by our internal organization that provides water cutting, laser cutting and punching and according to the workload we adapt thicknesses and materials on the three machines. My system is to put everything on the table, put the plates in flat repetition and extrapolate the individual plates and platelets. once extrapolated all the details cover them and take them into a new sheet (which I name dxf) without retino and all in the scale of the sheet, then I carry the dxf of that sheet where I have all the geometries I will have to cut. This is my system and it's not said that it's okay for you but after 17 years we've never had a problem managing this. regarding nesting, I always solve it by hand because automatically sometimes the spherical are embarrassing, in light also of the fact that working satin sheets the sense of satining obliges you to hold a certain orthogonality of the shapes to be cut. I have more different silhouettes to settle in a single sheet...I created a set recalling the various parts and placed all the various shapes in handles that are in my box. now the command saves in dxf from 3d does not exist regarding a set. How do you do that?
I speak as a perfect ignorant....I went to create the 2d view and then saved in dxf, with the side effect that in the dxf you can see also the bending lines.

I don't think it's the right procedure.

I delete the fold lines (right button on the fold lines, delete).
 
Agree if it's a multibody part where you can't spread around the bodies, but not in a set where you place the single-dimensional parts where you prefer, the sheets insert them already developed and once saved as part you're sure that the parts don't go anywhere.
If you are referring to the fact that it is a workman to make a double passage is not so different than to make the table of the assieme

Mass, it's unmanageable. how can you manage 10,000 designs (and maybe more) that way? What if you're going to make an insignificant change? with my system every part is put on board, quoted and with the number of pieces for kits, otherwise how would you manage it? I have works designed with solidworks 1998 that I still produce is sometimes a few small changes happen.... how could I manage a lot of files like this? I repeat, unmanageable.
 
you are perfectly right, as archive is unmanageable, even as design logic is a horror by not being able to insert any additional information such as quotas, number pieces, material and other, but if ansyolithic asks how to make a dxf of a set because the command is not there I interpret it that knows that it exists in the environment part (it also declares it in its first message) and therefore all the finesses mentioned above beautifully conducts here.

I want to say that if I use a mapping file for the export of drawings in dwg (which as you know is a editable file with the simple notepad) and I get the balzana idea to export the dxf of a stupid sheet directly from the environment part because the workshop cap is beating me time with a hammer of 5 kilos, at export I am required only views and no mapping file.
once you get the dxf and send back the shop in its natural environment when I make my beautiful exports from drawing environment and I activated the mapping file these is empty and there is no trace of the settings of the entities

I carry dwg on the side usually and I have never experienced this problem. the mapping file is required regularly (as for the tables) and is not shaved to the ground. work with 2016. I carry out in dwg because I have to then slightly manipulate the files with autocad and only at that point export in dxf (but by autocad). I'm going to try the dxf, but I don't remember any problems. I am talking about direct exports of flat repetitions from the model to a two-dimensional dwg of the single silhouette.
