Good evening to all,
I open this discussion to ask for advice to those who have a lot more experience than I can get some impressions. by now at the end of my academic journey, I find myself having to support the so much agonized thesis.
the professor to whom I addressed made me two very interesting proposals, both in the field of sailing boats (which I personally do not know at all):
- a thesis in design a little more "classic", in which you have to draw to the cad, choose materials (also composites) and carry out fem calculations. In particular, the greatest obstacles are to be able to identify as best as possible the force agents (both external and internal) and the complex geometries that the piece could assume.
- thesis in pure dynamics, a kind of multibody model of a sailboat (to be realized in collaboration with a company).
My doubts are basically in which of the two sectors go to specialize me: dynamic or mechanical design. in your opinion the mechanical design is "dead"?? I feel so many colleagues who have graduates who tell me that designers are mistreated and unpaid, while in the dynamic world I have practically no information because at work I don't know anyone.
(I like both aspects, which is why I struggle to make a final decision)
I just want opinions, thank you for your attention!
