solid edge v20

Good evening, everyone. I am hf and I have a problem with the solid edge v20 program. I should work on some old cad files (with desinenze '.par', '.asm', '.dft', '.cfg') created by another solid edge program (an old version but I don't know which one). in practice solid edge v20 fails to open these cad files and for everyone communicates that "impossible to open the file because the file was created using an academic license". so someone kindly could help me understand the problem and maybe propose some solutions.

you should be able to download the version accademica of the latest version of solid edge, which surely can open those files.

try looking for "solid edge student edition" on google.

file extensions that you have are the same as current versions.
your problem is not in old files (new versions accept old, but not vice versa). the problem is that commercial licenses cannot open files created under academic license. for which you either install an academic license, with the consequences of the case, or you have to pass through neutral files (step, iges and the like), losing all the history of the particular.
at the moment the only academic version available for download is 2020, so if you save files after opening them with the latter, the v20 will no longer be able to open them, not even an academic of the time

Good evening. I followed his suggestion and installed the new academic version of solid edge. I can now open the cad files and work on it. so thank you for the directions and wish you a good evening.

Good evening. was right, in fact I had to uninstall the v20 version and install the new academic version "solid edge 2020" and then problems with opening cad files are gone. Therefore I thank you for your complete and comprehensive answer.
