You're right. I took the opportunity to document and saw that this is a novelty introduced with the 2018 version. I haven't read what's new carefully for a few years and had run away this function.

the reason is very simple: solidworks does not develop ellipses. the net bends, the cylindrical and conical shutters work. then there is an extra possibility regarding loft folds with which you can realize complex forms, but always "simplifying" in folds, at least in the way of reasoning of the program.
a question: why should it be an ellipse and not a "half asola"?
the alternative to the middle asola is a approximation with a sketch consisting of arches and lines that approximates your object, something very similar to the sheet with loft.

the half asola cannot be because it does not become tangent with the other plates of the component.
I tried to change the ellipse function with a conical but it doesn't even make me the sheet. even with sketch composed of arches and lines it is not possible to get the same geometry unless you go to calculate all the radius fires etc...

I can't mirror it. . I hope you're luckier. or change the dxf file with autocad and mirrors there.

with the snap-on sketch (always on the front floor) I can create, cut (even with normal cut) and develop only and only if I give it a unique direction, if the development for example from the middle floor does not develop it anymore. for the moment it is okay so il mirroring it is not a problem, mirror half in the subaxieme and then development doubling it so as to have a unique development

curiosity maybe a little off the theme: but do you always work with that video quality or was put only for screenshoot?

no usually remove "realview graphics". This is a type of display and how speed I cannot complain.

the half asola becomes tangent with a different shape and also guarantees a greater internal continuity of the passage. I mean, it doesn't create all the edges that are created by intersecting the ellipse. I try to rearrange a model that I have come across quickly, the native is in 2019, but I also put an edrawing and a parasolid.
