autocad vs gpu

Bye to all,
I recently realized that my new workstation does not work as it should.
especially in the vieport of autocad, having mounted a video card nvidia rtx 3060 8gb, I have visual problems with shots and often many objects disappear temporarily.
testing and monitoring phases, I noticed that gpu is exploited about 25% and the ram is practically unused. cpu works well ance if it goes to very high temperatures.

I wonder if someone has (or had) similar problems with gpu and how it solved.
I do not think it is a discourse of incompatibility video card because the mounted one is widely higher than the recommended requirements, but I actually do not find it among the certified cards.
 
but does it happen to you with all the files or only with some, maybe the heaviest ones? check that hardware acceleration is active and that all autocad updates are installed. also updates the video card drivers from the nvidia site and see if it improves the situation.
If there are problems only with autocad I would rule out a worktation damage.
As for the 25% usage, as I have often said on other occasions, unfortunately autocad never uses 100% of your machine.... I do not know whether it is a program problem or just a programming limit but also me, with both machines I have in signing, autocad never used me even 50% of cpu ne of video card. with more open heavy files maybe start to stay tight 16gb of ram but for the rest there is no problem.
 
I noticed only with the heaviest files, the light ones run smoothly.
but considering that I have an i9 processor, ram 32gb, video card mentioned with 8gb dedicated I should not have big problems, yet.. .
on 3d study I do not have the same defect, for this reason I think it is a problem of autocad.
However the drivers are up-to-date, as well as the software, activated acceleration, autocad set to use the nvidia card with the best performance.

What tests did you do? very often they are generic and you don't understand what the gpu is doing.
hypothetically, you may have a 25% gpu, a 15% bandiwth and a 100% memory. but the test only records the gpu and therefore it seems that the gpu is firm, but in reality it is not so. would it be possible to verify the use of memory of the gpu vram?

then as I wrote above is unfortunately the "famous" problem of the limits of autocad and I suppose we will carry it forward for a long time!! the files have been growing more and more of complexity and weight but the code and therefore the reasoning that makes autocad is always the same.. .

then I wonder why they certify cards like the pictures that cost a lot but are not exploited!

certification does not guarantee high performance. but as autodesk writes:
"the tests verify that that hardware supports the product features." i.e. one thing is to support technologies another and have high performance.https://knowledge.autodesk.com/certified-graphics-hardwareBasically, it's like saying: I can run too, but that doesn't mean I can do it fast enough to qualify for the Olympics.

but I think that what thelittlesniper meant is technoloigie like multithread multicore. autocad, as I think almost all cads spin practically on one thread. so if you have a 4 thread gpu and see that the pc is only 25%. does not need to say that you use it little. but it may mean that the tread chosen by autocad is already 100%, while the other 3, which autocad does not know how to use, are still. so the cpu is already cuffed for what it can.

find confirmation that on this forum is always recommended the highest frequency cpu, without giving much weight to the cores. (obviously on desktop pcs).

in time I saw autocad go worse and worse, unfortunately... a colleague of mine has a cad 2d "compatible" and manages the same files much more reactively.
said this, once a highly qualified technician from my dealer had found the most suitable graphics card driver for my combination video/software/hardware card, because (explained) the most updated driver is not automatically the best choice: Could be a similar case for you too...

about ten years ago I had the same problems with my ws that for the time was na bomb, in particular I remember that when I had to move some retinatures of photovoltaic panels in 2d from one side to the other it was planned everything.
Then I tried everything from hardware acceleration to drivers to settings.
 
I contacted the manufacturer, let's see if we recommend something useful, while thanks to those who intervened
 
that I know, autocad does not exploit (if not marginally) the gpu. normally leans on the directx, so all the peculiarities of the cards go to get fried (opencl, vulkan, cuda etc.).
from my remembrance, the only cards that are exploited more intensively are the opengl with the appropriate drivers (firegl-quadro per capirci).
for the multitreadh question, autocad does not exploit it if not in regeneration of the design.
Therefore having an i7 to 16 core from 1.7ghz is much worse than having an i7 to 4 core from 4,9ghz.
Similarly, having an i7 or an i9 with autocad doesn't make much difference, since the single-core performance of the two cpus differ to a max of 10%

what is cad 2d "compatible" for curiosity? because I tried a couple but no one was "much more responsive", indeed...
 
we have tried to bricscad lite (and only that, for us it is fine), use for lay-out of industrial plants with blocks generated by the table masses of cad 3d and therefore rich of primitive; use 2d pure, for the 3d we pass to inventor. with our files and those received by customers a general smooth use, without annoying jams/ringings that I experience with autocad at equal file.
I specified the "2d" to emphasize that I compare the basic use without rendering or other advanced.

Of course I do not exclude being a victim of "the co-worker's cad is getting faster;-)", but I feel I am decently objective.

change what you want, maybe you don't understand.
take a nvidia painting rtx 8000 or an amd radeon pro w5700 an i7-12700k and you will see if it snaps or not.
p.s.
for the rtx 8000 you will have to do the scalze masses to spend a 5 thousand euros...
for the i7 you cable with a 500 euro (to which to pair motherboard and ram...)
