Good evening to all,
I don't want to throw a challenge but ask for advice to try to solve a problem I'm facing these days.
My client, a builder of great carpenters, asked me to help him convert the American irons that used a study, which I do not know and think is in use, in European profiles.
the structure has been realized with tekla and converted into stp.
this stp is about 1gb.
it has been for about a week that I have a car dedicated to this conversion, day and night.
for three times I managed to get to the opening of the file ( 106000 documents opened in session ), never to the rescue.
I am using inventor 2023, but I tried with rhino, solid edge, progecad and others that I find as trial.
I didn't try sw, creo and catia, I'm not going to install them for not having future dreams, but I can ask who has them, in case they were a winning solution.
I wonder what experience you have of stp openings of these dimensions, they are simple profiles, but they are many.
I have 64 gb of ram and ssd disks, nvidia 1070, drivers and upgrades win facts, sp of last inventor.
now I have increased the size of the Temp folder and I try the 4th opening, tomorrow morning we see if the night brought rabbit.

In case you can charge it, my intent is to divide it into x under axiemi, without necessarily a logical criterion, like columns, stairs, manoeuvres, I do not care and would be a job that I cannot ask for it to be done.
But with smaller assemblies, in stp format or as it is more comfortable, I am confident to finally manage everything.

You better zip it before charging it, the step is reduced by 90% when you buy it.

then.... with catia I opened the step file at 12:30 then returned from the lunch break (about 2 hours) no result.
I interrupted because it slowed everything down and needed the pc.
Tonight before I leave the office I raise the conversion... and see what I find tomorrow morning.

I immediately split the board into 6 under groups, without saving anything.
from the total axieme, I opened in sequence a subgroup at a time, three were saved, the fourth is being rescued.
PC is definitely less sweaty.
