I am an architect, I know various programs for renders, but no one in detail.
I wanted advice to be able to make it fast and intiutivable, but at the same time that it should be effective.
the programs I use are autocad for the 2d, archicad to build the model and to make fast use always archicad, if I have a bit of time in more use art-lantis if I just want to waste time the 3ds viz. A colleague of mine always tells me to use sketchups, but I'm afraid he'll recommend this because he can only use this program. I tried with 4d cinema but then I thought I'd let it go because I had enough confusion.
What do you think?

Thanks for your advice... but I'm still a bit confused, I think I'll try to know a little better 3ds. By the way do you know where I can download 3ds tutorials or manuals?

Since you're a little confused, I wouldn't recommend 3ds, it's complicated. if you work with archicad and have already used art lantis, deepen, it is easy to use.

the final result is the same? I've never seen renderings with art lantis that are as beautiful as those of 3ds, but maybe I've never seen them...

the level always depends on the user, of course 3d study has engines to make to the top, like other similar sw, but artlantis is valid. Just look at the gallery users on their website.

look, with sketchup, once executed or imported the 3d, you can apply different styles to get really interesting effects, ranging from hand disengno to aquarellato. Many styles are already included in the program installation, others you can download them from the official forum, where many users shared several styles they created.

Of course I don't talk about making photorealistics, but of effects that give the impression of hand executions.
the application of a style, once downloaded, and inserted in the program folder, takes place in a click, through the selection of the dedicated window, so you won't have time to wait to choose what could most value your project.

with sketchup polygon drawings, can not be considered a bim, so no automatic calculations on volumes, surfaces, materials used etc...
to use it decently is more immediate to make the idea of the final model of the building
I use it to develop the first things, discuss it with others and then I step into doing everything for benign with revit (so also archicad would be fine, but they tell me that with revit you can go down more scale).
with sketchup to make renders you must export to artlantis or install v-ray as a plug-in (even others, but if you want v-ray quality is a certainty.
in revit I maker with its internal motor and, despite not up to 3dmax, I would say that if the quarry egregiamente to set a few things in the textures.

In my opinion it is important that you have clear what you have to do and how much time you want to spend to learn those sw, taking into account that learning them from 3dmax zero requires more than others. otherwise projects in revit and carry out in 3dmax for renders, or even in artlantis.
