Hello everyone
I just took a new pc and a monitor 27" 4k (3840x2160) replacing a 24" (1920x1200) with windows 10 and solid edge st10.
Unfortunately, with default settings, solid edge graphics, and in particular menus on the left, and at the top, they appear very "displaced", making the 4k monitor useless.
Can someone tell me if there is any particular setting to set up to "use" the graphics so that they have a better clarity?
Thank you.

first you should post a screenshot of the monitor and all your settings.

the maximum line, I feel to say that the monitor is a questionable choice; for cad, 27" is a measure in my opinion useless. too big for the full hd, too small for the 2k, unusable on the 4k. It is clear that you can set the font size and icons etc. but to be able to see something at reasonable size compels us to settings that are "tops", and this could be your problem.

27" is a measure for those who play PC.

I agree with you gil at the most a good 27" full hd with dot pich that does not go to fag too, according to me for the cad a 24 full hd is ideal.
in my ws I have a 27" samsung fhd but we are at the limit as image quality.

First I recommend you switch to windows 10 if you don't already have it. windows 10 has a more advanced scaling interface management.
I suggest you set the scaling at 200%.

Unfortunately, there are still many programs that do not support it natively and will be seen swollen.

with such a resolution you will also need a powerful video card to avoid slowdowns.

Hi.
windows 10 is installed. By default, the video nvidia picture board puts the scaling at 150 %, but as I said the solid edge menus are blurred. As you say, putting scaling at 200% is better, but the result is that I have very large characters and I don't care much because for example on the sx there are less lines than on the 24 "...azz.. .

the most suitable scaling you have to look for it, I on my laptop that is a 2560 x 1440 (wqhd) I look good with 150%.
a true 4k I've never used it and I can't tell you what the best scaling is, do some tests and then tell us how it went.
in fact programs optimized for the 4k there are still few.

also controls in solid edge settings, which different interface elements can be enlarged

Hi.

the best thing seems to me is to work with the scale to 100 %... all lines and texts of solid edge are perfect! the problem is that icons and writings are too small... and I would need a binoculars to read them..... I have to see if you can enlarge

and I believe it 100% I use it with a full hd on 27"; on the laptop I have a 14" that is why I call it so much.

I think you should stay at 200% and then look for the setting to reduce the font size.

Hi.

try to work in fullhd, at this point of 4k you don't do anything, but if you think you have no conversion, since you have 4 neighboring pixels that always work together and give the same color. 4k on a 27", for me, it's a suicide, you're sick! Moreover, to date, there are few windows softwares, which support the enlargement of the interface.

I agree.

I tried a 27" resolution 2560 x 1440 and until I had brought it to fullhd to work as I like it.
I then passed it to a colleague and returned to 27" native fullhd that I used first:cool:

in conclusion: the world windows is not yet ready to 4k

Hi, I go a little countercurrent
we in r&d have about 60 stations and 40 use the 27” in wqhd (2560x1440).
the only “visual mancanza” of which we all complain (especially in asm) is the path finder with too small icons and writings.
I had already at the time of the st5 made a request to have the possibility to enlarge icons and writings but still is a fact.
have made the possibility to enlarge of 2x ribbons, but it is really a brute....
all cleared (i.e. with unsuitable resolution) and menu/rebbon texts that remain small (following system setting....)
bho according to me a little everything to see.... .
first I used catia v5 (we are talking about 12 years ago) and in caia there was the possibility to enlarge the aber of the features at will, without losing so much, in resolution.
we hope that sooner or later they do something usable and pleasant to see....

I think it's a question of reasonableness.
in the professional use in which the monitor is placed about 50/80 cm from the user needs a desktop proportional to the purpose. it is not technical limits if the use of 2k and 4k does not take foot.
professional use differs from watching a movie or video games, it is not the same thing.
For example, do you make 4k autocad icons? admiring the nuances of the high resolution windows bar is worth spending?

going beyond the current choices, which I think are (24" fhd / 30" 2k), come out troubles.
already at 30" inches to follow the cursor you have to turn the head in a supported way. Let's just go further, it would be like watching a tennis game sitting in the front row. and if not increase the size, of the screen resolutions beyond the fhd are unsurprising to the eye.

there is also the possibility to use 2 monitors, but usually the second is used occasionally, otherwise we return to the problem already mentioned above.

With this I do not want to say, that the apex of development has reached, but we are at such a specialization point, that every sector is taking its own path.
For example, in the field of gamig, monitors are at 120hz and beyond because they seem to have perceived improvements up to 150hz.
but in the field cad 60hz enough and advance.

in the photographic field they work on the rendering of colors, and not on the frequencies, making different types of panels.

so when you buy a monitor there are many parameters to pay attention to, because they are not all the same, it is not enough to take the largest.

but the design industry is the most static one, what fails to find real improvements. you are working on virtual reality, on the use of the viewers that seem suitable for our purposes, but until then I see nothing on the horizon for which it is worth changing a monitor worked.

which version of solid edge and on which operating system?

from st9 added the options to dimension "sterring wheel, orientxpress and view cube", the rest of the interface is sized according to the windows settings ("custom size").

40 use 27” in wqhd (2560x1440)
I don't think they recommended you well, if you want the big monitor so much it was worth taking a 30" 2k and you had solved all the problems. taking a 27" is a saving of the piff, with all the potential problems that you bring back.

I am well with the 27" but must be in fullhd, the resolution wqhd does not like.

hi, I have a surface pro3, and with a 12" it is mandatory to resize the icons. you see well at 150% and you start working decently at 125%. windows in itself also works well, are some programs that give problems. solidworks, for example, is not blurred and is fine. the pdm that I use, instead, you just can not use. the problem is not windows, but programs that do not support this feature.
Back to topic... to work using a pair of up2516d, monitor 2k from 25". icons a little small, but once used it goes well, the work area increases considerably. When I get back to working on the 24th 1920x1200, I feel too much "scratch." I had taken these because I also do some photo editing and printing (fineart) and I needed 2 monitors with a very wide color space.
I keep them a little closer than the previous ones and to still have space on the desk I mounted them on arms (I don't use the classic stand). with this solution I can and put the dock with the laptop just under the monitors and I advance space to work.

unfortunately, for problems with the management (we had in estimate the change to st9 for April last... but still nothing....) with st7 and some posts with windows 10 others with windows 7

I must also have some problem with the drivers, because the monitor goes better on the pc "old" that has windows 7, solid edge st9 and nvidia picture k2000.... if you could "scale" the monitors independently one from the other, I would also be happy... in practice on windows 7 I think you can't do it, or maybe it's about the video card... Blue...

then you agree with me that solid edge icons and menu graphics are not suitable for monitors with resolution above 1920x1200

I personally use a 27" 4k of the hp with win10 and st10 and I have no visual problems. text scaling is at 150%
