a thousand-footed inventor

Good morning to all good start week
I wanted to ask, how to start and stop a thousand footings on table with inventor.
It seems that you only take me on startup but it doesn't stop welding where I want.

the start/stop procedure is a bit twisted and I only understood it after several tests.
after selecting the edge, start/stop does not serve to give the start and end point, but to shorten the thousandfold up to a desired point. this point you select where you prefer by touching the edge starting from the end or beginning of the thousandfold and will shorten the welding accordingly. It's easier to do that than writing the procedure.

In the meantime I thank you for the answer.I understood in part, I selected the edge and removed the part that I did not need, but now as from image attached I would like to keep the part between the red lines and take the external ones. I can't

click on start/stop then you position yourself with the cursor to the right where the mileage begins and start clicking on the edge approaching you to the stretch you want to hold and you will see that the mileage shortens as you click and approach.

talking about a thousandfold, I add that I fight each time I have to change positioning side; In theory, the side should change the mouse pointer properly and by clicking to confirm, but sometimes does not want to know (anomalous behavior that happened to me years ago with inventor 2010).

Thank you all but after several attempts I failed.
I can start placing the welding at the correct point, but I can't cut the remaining tail.
basically respect my design I can get the welding where the red line of the left, but then I can't cut the tail after the red line of the right.
