Good morning.
I'm an engineering student and I'm having some problem with a simulation on abaqus. My goal is to simulate a "single lap" adhesive between two fiberglass laminates.
I shaped the adhesive with 3d "cohesive" elements and laminates with "conventional shell" elements and then build a "composite layup" and connect together the 3 parts with 2 ties.
the simulation returns the following error:
-the local-1 direction (after the additional rotation and permutation) of the material orientation, specified via *orientation, is normal to the shell, membranes, gasket, cohesive, or surface element. the local-1 direction must be projected onto the element surface. check input date. the elements have been identified in element set errelemusernormmatorient.
I tried to change the orientation of the adhesive material to which the error is connected but nothing changes in the result. I think the problem is related to an incompatibility between 3d elements and shell elements but I don't know how to solve it.
someone who can help me? Thank you.
