add more components

Hi, I'm a new solidworks user. I ask a question that might seem trivial. I have a model created important a parasolid, which consists of various components (parallelepipeds). exists a simple way to combine these components, to create a unique component? Do I have to create a set? because if I create it I only formally join them, but in reality in the design they remain separated. I wanted to do this to simplify the mesh that will have to generate on ansys.
