apply materials to a 3d fence

Hello, everyone!
I do not know if I am in the right section , move me if necessary!
I am trying to draw in 3d with autocad 2007 and I would like to draw a garden delimited externally by a "cannicized" or similar.
Now: I managed to make the perimeter, the width and height I want, I did it both with extrusion and with polysolid. how do I give to the whole surface the retino so that it creates an area delimited by a "wall", as if we were inside a courtyard.

then I would like to try to make strings in stones (dry thread), wood, three-dimensional bricks that delight my flower beds.

I hope I've explained this in an understandable way.

thanks tristan but the link you posted me is just a 2007 autocad manual and before buying me a guide I would like to try a little alone to do things.

Is there anyone who can help me and explain how I color a wall so that it looks like a brick wall, a bamboo fence, a dry wall or something? ?
