Good morning to all. I am manuele and I am 25 years old.
I am new to the forum and would like to ask a question quite important for my work, I work as a technical designer for a company of furniture and use daily solidworks software.
we are developing the program so as to make it operational in a short time and I manage to create a database of panels, ferramenta and details related to the furniture components, I would need if possible to maintain a few "matrix" files from which then to get the files with the correct and ready measures for production.
having various types of composition and furnishings needed a slender but effective database from where you can draw without being mad to requote and resize the components.
my question therefore is:
is it possible to change the measurements of the panels while maintaining possible proportions between holes and various machining? ? ?
e.g. panel from 263mm and 563mm..stesse proportions between drilling and processing but size of the different panel. .existing command to give precise measure without changing or losing real proportions between drilling and various processing? ? ?
thank you in advance await answer.

Manuele.

What do you mean by proportions? not being practical of furniture is not clear what you mean

I do not understand the level of knowledge you have of swx, but before you waste time creating a library with hundreds of similar components I recommend you to study well the "configurations" both for the parts and for the assemblies. read the help well, do both the program and those you can find online (youtube etc), read the help and look at you.
if instead they are arguments you already know then the answer to your question is: configuration+data table.
With regard to changes to quotas, proportions etc., it depends only on how the quotas you set them up and whether the relationships between them with equations.

hello marcof thanks first of all the answer.
I confess that I am not at all a "master" still about solidworks, I learn by myself to use it through tutorials and other (I have good knowledge of autocad and rhino and I can boat me enough), I already create elements of accurate and functional furniture but I still have not full power of all swx commands, I follow your advice regarding further tutorials and regarding the help, but I wanted to ask you if you can look further.

Good morning and thank you for the answer,
as "proportions" I mean for example.. :I have a 563mm panel and the holes are placed at 36mm from the edges,I would need to reduce the panel from 563mm to 263mm but I would at the same time need to keep the holes at 36mm from the edges.
can you create "matrix" files to be changed according to the specific needs of the customer without changing parts and assemblies each time?
I am obviously not using a technical jargon yet I hope to have been understood, otherwise I thank you anyway for
availability.

Manuele.

It seems to me that your problem is, even from what you have previously written, linked to the mentality of autocad and its parametric blocks.
Solidworks doesn't work like that.
if you have a 563 panel and position the holes to 36 from the edge by listing them from the edge and not from other references, any size you give to your panel the holes will always be 36 from the edge.
if you have a thickness of 19 and the hole for the plug must reach 3 mm from the thickness in order not to break it do the hole and you can put the depth of the quid and insert that of remaining material as guide or put an equation that says that the depth of the hole is "thick -3"; In this way, that you have thickness 19, 24, 10 the hole will always arrive at the same distance of the sinking plane.
If you have any work you usually use, maybe a more hole cast for the housing of a zipper, you can do library functions that enclose more functions in a

still write
daily stamp solidworks software
It's misleading if you're at first with software, which I invite you to write the version in the profile.

you're right. i'm probably wrong.
use solidworks 2016 in the company.
now i try to apply your advice.thanks thousand however in advance.

use solidworks 2016 in the company.
You don't have to write the version you use in a post. you need to change your profile information so that they appear under your name in summary info. if the versions you use is well visible you avoid sending/downloading incompatible files between different versions of swx with less loss of the little time that we all have at disposal.

Hello everyone, I reconnect to this topic to ask you information about rhino/solidworks...can you edit a rhino file with solidworks? Is there a function in solidworks that in the import of a rhino can create "functions" that can then be changed?

I would like to change components designed in rhino, but so far I have imported them and modeled them over a new body in solidworks going then to change the latter...but for components that present curved shapes the question gets complicated!

thank you to those who want to answer me!

there is reconstruction of functions (featureworks).
based on the options set (input>featureworks) and the setting of the property manager function you can get something.
If it's manageable to make changes, I don't mind.

Thank you so much to both of you! I understood that it did not give me the possibility to use the recognition functions (disabled key) because the component I imported in rhino gave diagnostic problems (present curved surfaces and that give error in import), while with other more linear components it works! the problem could be in saving the component in rhino at this point (immagin) but it is precisely for these "curve" components that I need the import function. Do you have any ideas about this? Thank you again! :

repeat more vole import diagnostic trying to solve the faces first and then the games. Sometimes you have to repeat the procedure several times so that it goes well.

I don't have much experience on correction but I'll take my hand at this point...thank you for precious advice! ;)
