automatic rescue of an old model to change

hello to all and good year,
I found myself working a bit with inventor, and I noticed an automatic function that seems very interesting to me:
when I reopen a part or a set and change it, automatically the software creates an oldversion folder where you save the models before editing, this folder is in the same folder where the part is saved.
a function like that would be very useful to me, I looked in the guide but I found nothing,
Can anyone help me?
maybe you can create a macro to do this?
Thank you.

in solidworks there is no such thing.
a pack&go of the project before editing it; it is possible to automatically put a prefix or suffix to all the files of the project included in the pack&go (for example project2018 becomes old_progetto2018) in order that they are not erroneously loaded together with the new project. in this way you can keep both projects open to make audits without file sharing problems

I thought something like that didn't exist in solidworks, but that you know, can you implement it with a macro?
Is there a forum user who could make it?
Thanks again

but do the pac&go and you're fine.
to understand, if you change a project, are all files saved when opened with a new version of the program or only those who undergo changes in terms of functions?

You mean in inventor?
only those where functions are changed are saved

I mean in inventor.
I would like to understand the logic of operation.
So if I save the project the unmodified files are saved in the new version and I don't have an old file, right? and if they tell me to change one back, of that file (which I should have had the old version) I have nothing?
If so, frankly it seems stupid and I don't see the usefulness. how many times the project that you take in your hand is not modified in the course of work at least a dozen times, and always on those details that we don't touch them that if we don't otherwise go through the budget... It's the only sure thing we have... the client already has a fact and finished. . .? rest of the idea that a backp should be made before changing the project.
I'm not polemizing with you, be clear, if you find it useful you see that it makes sense that they did it... just explain to me this way because alone I'm not coming

Forgive me, but I've had trouble following you in reasoning.
I don't know so well inventor, but basically this happens:
I create parts I call them "part01.ipt, part02.ipt, part03.ipt" etc., I make a set that I call "assieme 01.iam", except everything and in the folder no new folder appears.
Now I realize that I have to change, for example part03, I open the aid, open the part, I modify the functions of my interest, unless normally. at this point the oldversion folder with the file together 01.0001.iam and the part03.0001.ipt, that is the previous versions of the files on which I was working.
continuing to change the same part, in the acartella will appear the files part03.0002.ipt, part03.0003.ipt etc. in practice to each rescue you save a file of the previous version.
I hope I explained.
a function like that would be useful to me as I'm working on a project, but maybe I have to stop because there's to change a particular of another project on the indication of the workshop, or as I have to go to the customer to take odds for another job.
in practice the same project I open it in hand several times, and sometimes I lose the thread of reasoning that led me to those choices, being able to start from the point before the stop would be useful.

Okay, now I get it.
It's actually interesting.
solidworks manages file backups, but it's not that it works fine. Still try to take a look at it and try some tests.
I find
i sub options> system options>backup
