block with attribute having block name same

hello, as from title, I am trying to create a block with an attribute that bears the name of the block itself. I proceeded so: I created my block, then I opened it with modification local block, I created an attribute giving it in the field data the name of the block but it does not allow me to exit from the modification with save changes. Can anyone help me? Thank you.

first create the block, then edit it later and put it in the attribute with the value of defautl block name.
Get out of the block, he'll ask you to save and you confirm.
after insert the block you created.

Thank you for your kind crystal answer! I'm doubtful that the problem comes from the fact that I'm using mechanical... I'll try with normal autocad!
