calculation of speed tape deviator

Good morning, I have to establish the combination of speed of the tape system in the figure.
the bag full of feed transported from the carpet (1) to 0.3 m/s proceeds in the blue arrow direction. meets the carpet (2) that moves in the sense of the red arrow and through the combination of the two movements take the carpet (3).
the system works and is tested by multiple uses in different companies, for me it is the first time I face the problem and I can not understand which speed to allocate to the carpet (2).
my hypothesis, not suffragated by any calculation, tells me to choose a higher speed of the carpet (2) because the carpet (1) remains in operation.

do you have ideas, suggestions, experience?

Thank you.

I think if 1 goes at constant speed I would say that 2 can go at any speed as long as the second package of 1 does not come behind the first package to slam.
knowing the spaces to be done in the two senses should be easy enough to establish speeds.

Okay, so you think the bag turns dragged by tape 2 regardless of speed?
the accumulation speech is right, but it can be obvious to the problem easily stopping the tape upstream of the tape 1 if the operation of "turn" is not complete.

But are you sure that tape 2 turns that way? with the engine roller in the tail instead of in the head? It can be, but I don't believe it.

However to calculate the speeds, even wanting regardless of the friction coeff of the sack on the various tapes, it would be better to know: size and weight of the bag and number of bags per minute you want to turn

550 bags/h of 20 kg. 800 mm long and 400 mm wide.
I do not know the coefficient of friction of carpets, but of course carpet 2 is high friction, it seems to me it is called honeycomb.
tape with the tail motor normally works even if it is not a standard application.

"The ribbon with the tail motor normally works even if it is not a standard application." I do not doubt it, indeed some tapes that must be opposed to the inertia of the product to be transported are mounted precisely, apparently on the contrary.
I asked you, instead, because the system could work with 2 that spins in the other way and I wanted to make sure it wasn't like that.
However if you take 600 sacks/h to count equal, you have a cycle time of 6 seconds. imagine that the front of the package, following without slips the belt 2, moves half a meter, that is a 25% more than the front of the bag, to put almost 45° regarding the direction of arrival on 1. if you manage to make this move in the middle of the cycle time, i.e. 3 sec, the next incoming sack will not have to "tamponate" the first that is turning, then between the bags there should be a range equal to the path of the sack in the turn time. then the step of the bags (length 800+ space between them) will be about 1600 mm. multiplies by 10 minute bags and six to 16 m/min of v1. all this is very approximate because the friction and deformation of the sack play a very important role, but if you put a couple of inverters on the tapes and make the engines work at 40 hz, you have margin to accelerate by 50% (up to 60 hz nothing happens relevant to the power curve) an experimental solution find it. then, once you hit the speeds, you could also change the gearbox (which cost little for those sizes) and put the inverters back in their box, waiting for another future application... but if the tape conditions vary over time (I imagine there will be a lot of dust around and the carpets will consume sooner or later), maybe always have the chance to slow down/ accelerate the two speeds will make you comfortable.

excellent analysis, in fact tape 1 must, for issues related to the downstream machines, go to 20mt/1' and i today doing some accounts i have hypothesized a speed of tape 2 of 17 mt/1' which should allow me a turn in the times. everything should work because the bag contains animal feed which is a fairly stable product.
it is the first time i mention myself in a deviator so, i always used turntable wheels.
