hi to all I have made a cam with design accelerator in iv2011 pro. At this point I put it on the table but I can't quote it: mad: how can I do it?

I have never quoted a "complicated" cam, however when I do not know what to do to quote I create a sketch on the view, I project the geometries that interest me and design of the lines/points of reference as I would have done on autocad; then I quote these. I hope you are useful and I am curious to know from other alternative methods, which surely exist. . .

You could include the basic sketch of the cam in the design view you want to quote.

Good morning, I pray that on the matter are "unprepared": I would do as it says catafract.

of the cam you are interested in the profile (extremely "functional" surface), so I would quota this giving the rays and centers according to the reference axis (typically the one that coincides with the tree).

edit: obviously I would add geometric oscillation tolerances

hello guys, first of all thank you for the suggestions.

I tried to follow what you told me but in both cases I couldn't get a spider out of the hole.

making the projection of geometry gives me a single closed line difficult to "recopy" and consequently does not result in proper geometry. :frown:

It seems strange to me that autodesk does an interface to design the cams and then doesn't let you quote them.

on these complex surfaces you should give the file step to the miller, do first and reduce the chances of error.

mah, you have intrigued me and I have tried to generate a cam and quote it as I had described you (I have not understood the "recopy", however): I don't think there are big problems, except for the number of points to quote for a decent interpolation... of course, it takes a little patience, but simple is not synonymous with fast! definitely before losing too much time tries the excellent solution proposed by hunter. . .

Sorry I didn't see you talking about a disk cam (I assume therefore a tracked path on a floor). I in a similar case did some tiny holes along the whole primitive (patern long curve) and then at the table I put a hole table, which actually represented the trajectory of the profile points.
