Hello everyone!

I am new here and also in the world of rapid prototyping.

Does someone know if you can export a cmb file from the software insight (that of fortus) and import it into catalyst ex? Unfortunately catalyst is damn limited and sizes can do much more. the idea is to create the toolpath in insight and print it in catalyst. I found on the internet info on the cmb file.

How come your question?
that I know when you are sold a size to kit you have the catalist software that is used to pilot both the size series, and the uprints and the oldest prodigy.

if you want to have the software fortus gameforza you have to buy a fortus machine, without pushing on high cost machines but also high technical content you can opt for a fortus 250 .

The question arises spontaneously:
but if you have a chance to process with insigns what sense does he want to do for a dimension? Since you definitely have a fortus??

I believe, indeed it is obvious that it is so, that it is a commercial question to provide advanced software on higher-end machines.

Of course, in my case, I would be more than happy to have an insign to use on my elite, but when I asked for statisys they had confirmed that the two software were not compatible.

Hi, Ip.

the question arises from the fact that I am taking a sst 768 to make pieces for small internal productions). we don't have the elite budget (to which I'm looking for the future, but maybe you can "upgrade" the sst 768, since it's the same machine), let alone for a fortus, but I have a friend who has a fortus 250mc and therefore I have access to the software to generate the toolpath.

both generate a cmb file, a sort of g-code. sure there will be the way to write a file converter.. .

sst 768 and completely different than a fortus 250
for which the tool path of the first and definitely different

I want to warn you
I would read the forum rules
the argument of the tread and on the blade thread

I bring attention to another level.
sst 768 is an off-production machine. Are you sure it works properly?
Have you seen her at a dealer?
if you are out of warranty you cannot receive software updates, for example catalyst for windows 7... unless you pay...

the interchange problem between insights and catalyst is complex, since the parameters that affect the operation of a machine are many. speed, temperature setpoint, engine step...
It's not a cabbage. .
Suppose you have inventor 2009. your native files will be read by inventor 2013 but you will not be able to do the opposite.. .
Maybe some American ae of stratasys manages to bring a cmb of catalyst into insights...dubito of the contrary. . .

if then a machine fails for improper use, the eventual warranty expires automatically. . .

ps. If you could do so banally a "hack" I would have sold it to packs!!! we also proposed to stratasys an upgrade kit as they did for the 1200s but for now they seem not to hear us.. .

and then listen to paolo's advice, listen to me;-)

Hi.

I connect to what is said by iron clarifying some points for those reading this tread can think of following the idea of relaxationibus .
the starting point is:stratasys offers various 3d printer lines
the small, mojo and uprint
average size
the great fortus

provides these printers with proprietary software for using them and "solo per source"

This means that if I have a dimennsion sst768 and purchase an elite or a sst1200 I can use the same software to generate tool or cmb paths that you will want for all my printers.
while managing the print queues and seeing the work load etc.

If instead I have a dimension (any model ) and purchase a fortus , I will have to playforce manage the two printers with two different sofware as insign (the software for the fortus ) can not pilot the printers for the dimensional series .

It's like I bought a miller with a wild check and my cam had no post processor for control. Here's the point.
insign cannot process paths for lower machines because it does not have the relative parameters of management of the same machines.

the fact that the files related to the two software have the same extension could deceive us thinking that there is some compatibility, but in the same way for the milling machines the file that is fed to the same most often is a standard iso format, but look at case some specific commands change from machinery to machinery.
I could say that also proe and nx both have the same .prt extension in files but how we can well understand it is not that they are compatible.
iron has also placed emphasis on another non-secondary point, possible technical assistance .
If you buy a car and use it to rally the mother's house does decline the warranty, as well as your insurance does not cover any damage.
The same thing you have to put it into account with stratasys, if you buy a 768 and do what you want and after that you do damages, stratasys may not recognize the warranty.
I don't want to shoot a chestnut, but it might also refuse to supply you with the spare parts. (some interventions must be made exclusively by certified technicians )
other point of question ... the software insign, being supplied with the fortus machine, within the folds of its license of use allows the cession to third parties or the use on machines other than that of purchase?
Are you sure you want to risk so much to be able to use insignia once in a while?
the game in my opinion is not worth the candle.

I end my intervention with another observation.the current state of the machine.the purchase of a used 3d printer should be made with the support of a competent technician who can analyze some points that a standard user cannot detect, e.g.
how much work has actually done the machine
if he had problems and what
if small alerts are in progress that can lead to need maintenance soon
if the general state of the machine is still good
which version of hardware
etc.
on the basis of this information the market price of one of these printers can fluctuate and also much.
I'm sure one of them is doing it, but better than we are, and not who sells it, don't you think?
