change appearance (color ) of welding )

I would like to highlight the welds together giving a color, even better if you could give a color by type of cord.

Is that possible?

I don't know what version you have.
with 2017 I just drag a color (equal for decals etc) on the piece or on the single function to color and holding it down, opens me a drop-down menu where I just select in place of body etc, the single function.
edit: works both in the environment together and part

I can't change appearance to welding. Maybe with that version is not possible.

I have tried with the strings in particular but looks ethereal and not selectable from the color
