change color to layers of a xrif

Bye to all,

I almost never write on the forum but I follow it.

I often work with a big industry in continuous evolution and I usually need different files of the planimetry (please everyone different projects of plants but same "background") that I would like to remain updated always. Sometimes I need to display it on autocad with all white lines sometimes in color.

if in a new empty file of autocad click on "insert" >" dwg reference..." it gives me the possibility to insert the mother file of the color planimetry on the new design as a block (not editable if not from the mother file of the planimetry), can lower the system that I want for example electric and do the same thing on other plants (new autocad files). in this way if there is a change on the mother plant I make the change only them on the mother file without modifying all the files of all the plants that will be updated automatically.

so I can work in color, but if I have the need to see the block (after the procedure "insert">" dwg reference...") of the white planimetry as I do?

I don't know if I could make me understand. . .
important: I can not work on a single file and assign to each plant a layer because otherwise the single file would become very heavy because it is really a large design, hence the need to have multiple files, each with a type of system but succeeding to change the background or the planimetry once and report the changes automatically on all other files, additional problem that the background sometimes I need to colors sometimes white.I hope someone can help me, if you know different methods to get what I would not hesitate. . .
Say hi, give it to me.

change the color to the layers...if I understood the problem
thanks for the quick answer... I cannot change the color of the external reference dwg. to me that interests to change, the color of the reference. I can make changes only on the original file not on the reference, and if I do it on the mother file changes the color on all files. If you can prove yourself, you'll understand what I mean.

in the design where you connected the xrif you should have, in addition to the layers of the dwg itself, some layers with the name <nome xrif="">♪<nome layer="">. Do you understand? with which version of autocad works?</nome></nome>

when importing an external reference the layers are imported, which do not affect the original file.
from the management of the layers modify the color and, unless they are forced colors, all the related layers will take color, but also thickness and type line, decided by you

I understand, work with autocad 2009

on the original file (mother file) the colors of the objects are not set by layer each object has its color not dependent on the layer.

I explain better, on the original file (mother file) the colors of the objects are not set by layer each object has its color not dependent on layers. this method could work if all objects on a given layer (<nome xrif="">♪<nome layer="">) have as color set by layer and it is not my case since each object also on the same layer (on the mother file) has its own color. For example on the lawn layer I have different shades of green.</nome></nome>

except for forced colours
If the color of the object is fixed I think you can do very little.

if you need only as control during work you can make a copy of the mother file of the color you want, attach it over the original mother file and "light/spenge" the xref that interests you when you want to see "all white". a little improvised maybe, but for work should go.

I don't need for control but to properly design various plants... electrical, fire water etc... in any case I solved so:

I created on the separate layer mother file for object/color type, for example "prato colore 108", "prato colore 30" etc... I set the layer color on 108 and 30 and then after giving the objects the special layer I assigned to all the layer color, in this way they remained colored as I wanted and separated by object allowing me to implement the method suggested by massivonweizen. I therefore not dissect as first only by type of object, for example "prate", "muro" etc... It was a workman, but the "qselect" speeded up my work, in a morning I managed. Thank you all, thank Massivonweize and a greeting to the forum!

ps: nice forum boys!
