change imported parts

... classic Friday afternoon problem...

I'll explain. .
in a machine that I have to make I have to mount a hydraulic control unit of those transportable, to understand with its frame and wheels.
the client who already owns one wants to mount it on the machine to make all its movements.

always the customer provided me the step file of his control unit, which is complete with all his accessories.

I imported it into inventor (vers. 2013) and converted it into a .ipt part

Now I wanted to change it, in particular to eliminate the wheels from the trolley, so that you can use the holes to put on silent-blocks and fix it on an ad-hoc frame.

Now here's the problem, I can't get rid of the wheels on the side.
I wanted to do a banal sketch and then extrude (in negative) cutting the parts that I don't care (bottom part), but I can't do it. I mean, I can do the sketch, but not the extrusion. in fact it gives me the possibility only to create other solids from the shape of the sketch but not to cut.

How can I do to solve my problem? suggestions?

Just tried with a step I have and I have no problem doing negative extrusions... I drag them directly from windows, I don't think it changes anything but if you want to try... and if you can post the step you can make an extra test.

you can't take away because the step is dirty.
there will be some point of geometry that will plan the other future processes.
If you train the step, we'll fix it.
Did you look if the ipt is not made up of multi-corps?
If so, just eliminate the wheels and also justify the apparent difficulty in performing the other processes.

then returning to the problem I actually discovered how the steps were made.

Actually it is not just a step, but a body formed by surfaces and still saved in step format.

therefore what I see not solid to be able to shape but surfaces united.
