change multiple parts together

Bye to all,
I searched on the forum and on the online guide (I found thishttp://help.solidworks.com/2011/italian/solidworks/sldworks/legacyhelp/sldworks/assembly2/editing_a_part_in_an_assembly.htm) but I found only the modification of a single part and not more parts.
I am in a set: I want to make a hole passing through the various parts. But I have to change the part, that is, if I open it, I have to see the change.
I found 2 roads but are not the right ones:
1. dx key on each part, edit part and so on for each part (too slow and risk to wrong)
2. sketch, cut extruded in the axieme: I see the hole passing but if I open the single part no!
I know but I don't fix it. .

the road n°1 is the one used normally since a piece must be in relation to a second (one at a time) otherwise you would design the machines in 10 seconds knowing already everything goes with everything.

the road n°2 you have to activate propagation function to the parts (but not wait for magic) is a work done together and as such it is and remains even if reported in the parts. (see Annex)
