Hello everyone,

I have a problem: I have to change the doors and windows starting from the base rows loaded in revit 2011; After changing them and saving them as families when I try to use them in the project, the program sees the door (or window) as if it was a common object, so it does not lay the wall and can be put anywhere in the sheet (not necessarily in the wall as it should be). I cannot change them when I am already in the project because I have to create them for other designers who will put them in their buildings.
Can someone solve this problem?
thanks to everyone in advance.

You definitely touched something you didn't have to. if you change the only geometry of a fixture, that will remain a fixture, even if saved with a different name

if with the command -modifies family- "exploding" a two-door door to change its size (type 90 and 30cm) and then the save, without touching anything else does not see it as a door anymore. the same happens even if I do not change anything and save the door immediately, as if the command -modifies family - broke the door and then could not recompose it with its parameters at the time of rescue.

There is nothing "to explode" in the change of families.
change of size, even in families, is performed using parameters.
if the window you use does not have parameters (length/width) you must add them.
the family we see.

Excuse me, I'll explain better: in the basic family of the door to two doors you can change the parameters by selecting only both doors, not individually as it serves me! using the family change command the door opens, showing the two separate doors. at this point they select a swing at a time and create a new parameter I define the width of each one! At this point the rescue and when using it creates problems!

I fear that you are very unclear both the functioning of the family editor and the concept of nested families. You cannot save generic models, which together form the window, as a new independent family and hope that everything will work as before!

in fact: it is not clear to me at all; I am a student who has been using revit for just over a month but the teachers I ask for explanations seem to know less than I am! I have to create 40 doors and windows that repeat themselves in different buildings and I thought about starting from those already loaded in the program! until I had to change the parameters values all right, but when I have to create them I mistake something! Can you explain how I have to do this? Thank you!

I'm sorry, but I doubt that such a topic can be explained in a forum. too varied and vast. try with this:http://www.educational.am4.it/pagine/catalogo/scheda.asp?libro=4
