Good morning, everyone.
My name is stefano and I am a designer "individual company", use solid edge v19.
My question is as follows: I have to achieve a pneumatic linear movement at 3 positions; I'm thinking about putting 2 cylinders in tandem.
What is the most correct way to combine the two cylinders? ... maybe a sleeve on the back threads of the cianfrinate?

if you use normal cylinders (type festo dnc) or compact (type festo advu) typically on the catalogs of the manufacturers find the accessory to do as you ask: always taking the festo catalogue as an example, the dpnc component.

If instead the two cylinders must be exactly the type you indicate, I think a sleeve would not be a great solution: By connecting the two cylinders through the head thread you struggle to have a good alignment of the two cylinders. Better to use a couple of counterparts maybe.

I forgot to say that the linear movement I have to accomplish is however constituted by a guide + ball recirculation skate.
I understand the alignment problems that highlight me, do you think they can exist even with the presence of the guide?

I think they'd be emptied, and you'd have considerable force in the cylinders that would reduce their durability. try to insert a floating middle joint between the two cylinders, if your configuration allows (see example attached). In this way you would also have one of the two shirts standing still, so less cables and pipes around.

we make the cylinder joints rare with the catalog joints. thick we make aluminum flange for joint back cylinder stem with front cylinder back butt or mount mini cylinders with rear axles in contact with threaded compass.

Obviously to avoid impurities we use fork+head of biella or with floating pin where possible.
