civil 3d: point codes, connection and form

good morning to all, I would have a question regarding civil 3d, especially point codes, link and shape regarding type sections components (or subassembly): when I create a new subassembly from scratch using polyline, is it mandatory to assign the above codes to the various points, links and forms or serve only for particular needs? and in this case what are these requirements?

already that there are profits to ask another question relative always to the "point" components of a subassembly: is there no way to recognize those who have already assigned a code to distinguish them from those not yet encoded? for example, that I know, give them a different color, as in this video (min. 12:15)

otherwise it is really not practical and stressful to assign the various codes, you risk "losing the wire". Thank you so much!
