Hello, everyone.
I tried to search on the forum but without success.

I handle plastic injection molds and have a question.

can you create matrix and punch from a stl or obj file?

I understand better, I have a very "cultural" model in stl, from which I have to make a mold.
reconstructing the surface of the product is practically an enterprise and I wanted to know if it is possible to make a tool path directly from stl pulling only the closing surface .

If yes, what extension should I save the file to give in the workshop?
I normally use .step and .iges but trying to save them so I create 600 files and pass mb.

Give me some disappointment if possible.

thanks to all in advance

certainly it is feasible. Unfortunately the mesh that usually arrive in files like those you say are not exportable in iges or step standards unless you transform each facet into a surface.

what you can do is export the closing surface as step or iges and mesh in stl (I don't think the obj is as diffused), then those in front of the cam will have to put together the pieces, compatibly with the features of the software.

What kind of cam would it be if I can?
