Hello, everyone!
I hope I am not in ot, I saw that there is also the hardware section, but I had a specific request for use with solidworks....so I asked here hoping not to be in the wrong section.
I have to renew processor and ram in my pc, use solidworks 2010, as video card I have a modest ati hd5750 1gb of ram video (I am aware that it is not a great deal....but I have this at the moment)
as a processor currently I have a regret d and 3gb of ram.....the motherboard that I have is socket 775 and can install all the processors out for this socket, up to the utlimi quad core out of 775....
as ram can support up to 16gb of ram ddr2 1006mhz... .

I had thought about taking a quad core of the last series... and 8 gb ram..... do you have advice?
better quad core or core duo?
Thank you in advance

The quad is not exploited by swx, so you could be on the last generation of duals. careful because the big leap of performance you would do it by taking an i7, so you spend money to have a result not too exciting. ...

Thank you so much for answering me!
thanks to the attached test and the info on quad cores...
the problem is that I can't take an i7 because I have the motherboard with socket 775....so I have to stay on core duo and quad core.....
but if you say so, I think I point to core duo....Do you have a model in particular to recommend?
can the ram go well?
Thank you again! :

It's tied to your budget.

So... I have on 250/300 Euros at the moment.. .
I did some research....and as core duo I would find the e8400 at 130€ and with a similar sum I would be able to take even 8gb of ram....
So in the end I would spend on 260€ in everything... let's say that compared to now an improvement I should have it, right?
hello and thanks again:)

an 8400 is a good cpu and compared to a repentum of the advantages you see. I have a mule with an e6750 that's fine.
In my opinion an i7 is another planet, however with an e8400 you already make us great assemblies. What motherboard do you have? That also has its importance.

I saw the card and recommend ram to 1333 mhz since both the cpu and the motherboard support it.

Bye!
I knew that the ddr2 came up to 1066 (default)...the 1333 are ddr3...my mobo only supports ddr2;) so I would bet on 1066
