connect ipt to idw with different names

I can't connect an ipt file, but also iam, with an idw file that has a different name, i.e. if I'm on the part and I click "open drawing" always opens the manual search window; even if I associate it the next time it takes me again.

It does not happen in the opposite direction, from idw I can always open its ipt.

because the command "open design" does not consider the association to the table idw, but simply searches for the same file name but with idw extension, so if they have different name it does not find it even if they are associated.

Yes, there are various methods, but I suppose you refer only to the easy ones:tongue:

I imagine that with ilogics or a macro you can save the name and path of one or more tables in a custom parameter and then use another ilogic/macro to reopen the table, or rely on external databases that keep track of the tables/parts/assiem links: but since you could usually solve everything using the name part as a table name I imagine it is a really good reason to embark on such a venture (not that there are no good reasons, but not all have these needs!).

to keep in mind that the use of the open design is convenient to search for any design file because, unlike the normal open, it automatically filters the dwg and idw files.

logically I meant something easy!

the reason for diversity of name between ipt or iam and idw is that we have many machines that are equal to each other but change only the length, so the codes of the parts or assemblies that vary in length have two digits to identify the "cut", while in the name of the idw instead of the two digits we have "__", in fact the design is unique for all versions (the various quotas are shown in a table).

that I know no synchronization, but the idw must be in a subfolder of the project, because the search is performed only within the folders of the project, and of course, as written above, the file must have the same name.

Yes, the idw is in the same project folder also because I created only one with two main folders and with relative subfolders, one with parts and assemblies and the other with the tables but both as I said, in the same project
