I think it's a problem many have already faced, but I can't solve it.
I work with inventor 2009, I have a client who works with inventor 2010 and I should spend bookstores.
someone can explain how to convert inventor 2010 files to inventor files 2009.

Thank you for your help.

I'm sorry, but I think that a design saved with inventor cannot be opened with a previous version if not converted into step or iges or other

I don't have to read with 2009 an inventor file 2010 , but convert with inventor 2010 files to inventor 2009 and be able to work on it.

Open them and save them. or you can use the massive conversion tool that you find in the program menu\autodesk inventor\tools\task scheduler
create task/migrate files

you wrote the opposite.... :

be confusing, you can neither open an inventor file with a version of the previous program, nor save an inventor file in a previous version (as you can do instead with autocad).
the only thing that the customer can do is send them into a universal format like step or iges, unfortunately you will have geometry but not individual processing.

version downgrade is not allowed for inventor and swx, which can be done with autocad.

if you have file version 2010 you can't turn them into 2009. you can only pass them in generic stp, iges and similar format, losing information about inventor.

thanks for the information.
It still seems like a big shit from inventor, just to make money.

say update something that allows you to do the same in way or with new tools. It's part of evolution. so normal that you can not do version downgrade. It's like you know five modern languages and they ask you to write in Aramaic.

And you're doing "just" money, you call it bullshit?
Right.
So with autocad, they fucked her up?
And anyway, who knows how many people go to the next version because they can't save in previous versions or can't get files of their version from who has the latest version....bho? ?

but excuse a moment, let's make an example:

autocad:
I make a rectangle with the 2010 version, the lines are lines, maybe I put a couple of constraints that in previous versions are not there. except in 2010 format. autocad 2009 does not open it, then save in format 2007. what happens, that the lines have remained vector lines and the constraints are not seen, but do not affect the drawn object, the vector forms are always the same... .

inventor:
I make a sheet with inventor 2010, hole, flange, punch, etc... then I need developed and make a "explain" feature that removes the piege and with which I can do work on the flat model, I do the work, then stuffed. Well, now save his size. Can't I open with 2009 for "money"? no, but simply because, as the cabbage does 2009, in which the command "explains" was not there, to interpret the condo yes, but also all the work that is between "explains" and "fills"?
and every relase after the previous one always has comndi that create new features, so to me it seems logical, not so bullshit.. .

in fact what are the soft ones that allow a rescue in ver. those who have no parametric generations for features... .

I agree, in the sense that I also have at least the strong doubt that the impossibility of saving in past versions is linked to the complexity of much greater than the inventor files than autocad.
