hello to all of you rhino experts,
I pray that I don't know rhino and that I don't even know what he does.
but I was told that it could be the right software to solve my problem.
I made 3d models of low poly characters with 3dsmax and now there is the need to make them plastic. who will make the mold asked me the model in step and/or iges format.
as you will know here the problem arises.. polygonal models cannot be exported in step ne in iges, rhino has the possibility to convert mesh into nurbs? is guaranteed an optimal result? Do you know other ways to solve my problem?
Thank you.

can you put an image of one of the models (not rendered but well-behaved in wireframe) to understand the degree of "facet they have ?

Question : Does 3dmax have a chance to fix the low-poly triangulation (like zbrush to understand) ?

in line of maximum cmq the passage from polygons to nurbs is not automatic and sometimes requires a long work ( reverse engineering).
in rhino there is a _meshtonurb command which, however, does nothing but transform each polygonal face into a nurbs face, therefore unusable if the model has too much emphasis.

Thanks for the answer.
I put some pictures tonight.
However yes, 3dstudio allows to inflate trianulations (turbosmooth).
I also believe that before making the conversion to nurbs I will have to make some adjustment in zbrush.

Go ahead. qui and download the trial, in one click reverse. is made for models with few polygons, for conversion from programs like 3d studio. its main feature, however, is to model the nurbs resulting in subdivide surface, in the manner of the catia module to understand us.
the only shortness is to select, before conversion, the edges, if you have them, the so-called creation, but if they are faces should not be there.

to give a conclusion to the discussion: I solved it with t-splines ( fortunately the trial also turns on rhino trial). I exported a max to rhino obj, I applied with t-splines conversion from mesh to t-splines and then from t-splines to nurbs. (I followed a videotutorial on the plug-in site). I exported an iges and a step and opened them with pro-engineer (cad I use habitually) and the result is perfect.
thanks for the suggestion enri.

Please. tspline is exceptional for these uses, without the need to use professional reverse sw.

I also have the same problem....what tutorials did you use? ? ? ?

Thank you very much
